Science 5- we have been working on Matter. We are using a new program called Discovered Education. Students have a workbook and have digital access through Clever.com. We have reviewed solids, liquids, and gasses and are currently working on density. We have practiced weighing random objects using balance scales.
Science 4- we are currently working on Force and Motion. Grade 4 also is using Discovery Education and can use digital copies through Clever.com. We had fun learning about motion by doing a hands-on activity pushing toy cars hard and gentle and measuring the distance traveled. We have also tested various items to see if they are magnetic.
Math 5-In math we are currently working on adding and subtraction of decimals. Our next topic will be multiplication of larger numbers. I can’t stress how important it is for students to be proficient with their multiplication tables. If not, grab some flash cards. Students should be doing 60 minutes a week on IXL.com to reinforce their basic skills.
Math 4- We have just completed adding and subtracting larger numbers. Our next topic is multiplying by 1 digit numbers and then by 2 digit numbers. It is important to practice multiplication facts until they are memorized. Flash cards are still a great way to do this. Students should be practicing 60 minutes per week on IXL.com to reinforce skills.
Religion 5- this year grade 5 focuses on learning more about the Sacraments. We have just completed a Google Slides presentation on the 7 Sacraments. Students can access this in their drive to show you their projects.
